Phenomal Beauty Tips from Faye and the Phenomenal Falcons

8:13 PM

This past Monday, the SLS was treated to an Eye scream social by our local Mary Kay director Faye Shaw-Jenkins and her Phenomenal Falcons. The ladies gave us the total package-face massages, makeup tips, makeovers, and ice cream sundaes all in one night! While we'll show you the makeup looks the ladies gave us  later this week, we wanted to share some of the beauty advise that Faye and her team gave us about taking care of your skin.

Cleansing

Cleansing is one of the most important steps to taking good care of your skin. Cleansing removes dirt and bacteria from your pores that cause blackheads and also removes dead skin. Cleansing with a regular body wash or soap is a big no-no. Soap dries out your skin and can leave dark marks. Instead try using a product specifically made for your face, such as Mary Kay's Timewise 3-in-1 cleanser ($18) which exfoliates and cleanses without leaving your skin feeling bare. It's recommended that you cleanse your face twice a day.

Moisturize

Moisturizing your skin is just as important as cleansing. Moisturizing daily keeps your skin looking healthy and radiant without drying out. It's recommended that you moisturize twice a day. While your sleeping, your body is in repair mode, and this includes repairing your face. The Falcons recommended we use this valuable time to help our skin hydrated by moisturizing at night. We tried Mary Kay's Timewise Age Fighting Moisturizer ($22) which went smoothly on our skin and left us feeling refreshed.

Sunscreen is your Friend

No matter what shade your skin, sunscreen is a must. SPF helps protect you from harmful UVA and UVB rays from the sun which can cause premature aging, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and skin cancer. Fitting sunscreen into your beauty routine as become a lot easier, as many common beauty products are infused with SPF like MaryKay's Foundation Primer Sunscreen Brad Spectrum SPF 15 ($16).

Remember guys, makeup only highlights your natural beauty, but taking care of your skin is the best beauty secret you can have. Stay tuned for our beauty posts coming soon!
