Nicole Beharie and Chadwick Boesman as Rachel and Jackie Robinson in 42

Just like most things in American in the early 1900s, the world of baseball was split by color lines. No matter how good a black player was he was not allowed to play for Major League Baseball teams. It wasn’t until 1946 that the color barrier in baseball was broken when Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers. Now, Robinson is having his story told on the big screen in the upcoming 42. The film, starring Chadwick Boesman ("Lincoln Heights") as Jackie Robinson and Nicole Beharie ("American Violet") as Mrs.Robinson, will focus on Robinson’s career and struggle in the league.

Despite getting a position on a major league baseball team, people didn’t want Robinson in the league. Robinson faced discrimination wherever he went from fellow baseball players, fans, and even his own teammates. Pitchers purposely aimed at his head hoping to knock the young player out of the game for good. Yet, Robinson continued to play and show the world that he belonged in the major league no matter what color his skin was. In the film, viewers will be able to see Robinson's determination and bravery in the face of discrimination.

The movie, 42, will be released in theaters April 12, 2013. Watch the official trailer below.
