#ShyGirlProblems Everything Is Embarrassing Part 211:00 AM
"Shannah, go talk to that guy over there." Tiffany* said as she was eating her extra greasy cheese pizza. I looked at the guy and noticed the black and red bow tie that complemented his outfit. Of course, I couldn't approach a random guy in the school's dining hall. I assumed he would label me as a thirsty, desperate girl. "I like his bow tie," I said to my friends in a nonchalant voice, as I sipped on an icy cold water. "Then go tell him," Tiffany insisted. "No, I can't," I replied with panic in my voice. "Then I will." Tiffany said walking towards the guy. Everyone at the table started to laugh as Tiffany moved towards his direction.
While Tiffany was talking to him she pointed in my direction, and I decided to point back at her. Back at the table, Tiffany told us the guy didn't understand why I didn't approach him. "Tell her to be more assertive," Tiffany said, quoting the guy."Shannah, we're taking your phone and purse until you approach a guy, " said Tiffany.
"But I can't. I believe a guy should approach a girl first," I said. Call me old fashion if you want.
"Come on, Shannah. I'll go with you," China volunteered.
We walked around the dining hall, and every guy China pointed to, I refused to talk with. Finally, I approached an international guy. I thought, "Internationals are the easiest to talk to sometimes, so why not? "Hey I'm Shannah." I said awkwardly to a Middle Eastern guy. We talked for five minutes and Tiffany watched the whole thing unfold. She quickly got out of her sit and gave me my phone and purse. "Now, if only you can talk to Shy Boy this way." Tiffany said.
