6 Reasons I Deleted You From Facebook

9:42 AM

I am notorious in my circle for cutting ties with people. Not something to really be proud of, but I have learned that I don't have to put up with people's BS on the internet, and deleting unnecessary drama makes my life a lot more enjoyable. I've deleted family,"friends, and even my boyfriend before, so no one is really safe with me. If I have ever deleted you here are a few reasons why.

I Don't Play Games
But I used to. I was heavily into Farmville, Sorority Life, and Candy Crush when I started FB and would add strangers who played the game online to get ahead (people started blocking my game requests , so you gotta do what ya gotta do ). But as I got busier, I stopped playing the games and realized a lot of my new gamer friends were kind of ...weird. Like the 40-year-old Sim friend who messaged every time I was on chat. Yep. Delete. Besides, why keep these friends online if I don't actually know them? (Okay, some of these random adds are actually pretty cool people and I haven't deleted them yet).

Jesus Told Me To
If you are one of those people who are constantly posting those "Like for Jesus" posters, you are going to be cut off of my friends list if not blocked from my timeline. If your relationship with god only needs confirmation with a few clicks online, you may wanna re-evaluate your relationship.

I Never Liked You Anyway

When I first started Facebook, I added everyone I knew from highschool. Then I got to know these people and realized they weren't all that great. Funny thing is, some of these people actually tried to add me back. Ha.

You Never Called
I deleted The BF when we first started dating because he didn't return my texts. Then added him back when he told me he was working that day (I made him request me). I did the same thing to a guy in high school who suddenly developed a cold shoulder to me, and again to another girl who did the same. Petty, I know, but I am really a sensitive person. If you're close to me and if you ignore my calls, texts, or anything else, but can find time to post a billion FB statuses, then I'm not going to think you take our relationship seriously.

Middle Name Drama
Your page has more drama than a telenovela. I don't like telenovelas.  Arguing with your boyfriend, spilling family secrets, and beefing with randoms on Facebook is unneccessary. Yep. This is the quickest way to get deleted.

You're an A-hole
The internet brings out a totally different side of people. And these sides aren't always pretty. I've had to pluck away a few racist, misogynist, and ignorant people from my friends list because of their out spoken beliefs.

Just to wrap it up, if we're true friends, we proably talk outside of Facebook a lot. Some of the times I've deleted people have been personal, but it doesn't mean I hate you. Not all of you anyway.

Have you ever had to unfriend someone online? Why? Tell us what happened?

  1. Haha! All excellent reasons. Thank you for not making "you post photos of food" one of them because I don't think food pictures are a missuse of facebook!

  2. Ha, love it! I am a Christian and post faith related things, but I try to make it personal and actually thought-provoking...not "Like in 3 seconds if you love Jesus!" Seriously, I think He has bigger concerns than timing how long it takes me to click something *inserteyerollhere*

    1. I used to be heavily in games and still get requests from time to time, but you can always block them if you need to.

  7. Your deletable if we have not communicated on facebook for a year or so. That's including LiKES. If I'm dating you and you stop communicating by phone but keep liking my post or pictures on facebook... Guess what? Your deleted. I rather log on and see good post from good people and factoring out the negative posts. Makes a difference ;)
